No inquests will be held in this area for January or February, due to the deteriorating Covid situation.

The Coroner for Mayo Pat O'Connor has confirmed that will not be holding any inquests this month or next, while the Coroners' Society of Ireland has recommended to the country's 34 coroners that they should not hold any inquests until after 26th January, in view of the public health crisis.

Pat O'Connor says he expects most of his fellow coroners will follow that recommendation, and says that in light of the current health difficulties, it's important that all of the institutions of the State - including the courts - should adhere to what is best practice for the public.
