Met Eireann is advising that tonight could be the coldest night of the year so far, with temperatures in places dipping to -8 degrees.
Widespread icy conditions are being reported across the region again today.
Particular care is needed on secondary and minor roads.
Gardai are advising motorists to reduce speed, leave extra space to brake and keep manoeuvres gentle.
Stick to main routes where possible as they are more likely to have been gritted.
Emergency services attend a single vehicle collision on the Foxford side of Cloonguillane bridge, on the N26 - Foxford to Swinford road earlier, and road conditions were reported as treacherous.
Throughout the day today – reports are coming in of dangerous drivig conditions - with slippery patches. Also footpaths and many car parks surfaces are described as lethal.
Temperatures could drop to minus eight degrees in some parts of the country tonight.
