An Erris Councillor is pleading with the community to stay at home and stay safe.
Gerry Coyle says the infection rate is at its peak in the Erris area at present and now more than ever people need to adhere to the public health guidelines.
His plea comes as new figures show there are 52 patients being treated for Covid-19 at Mayo University Hospital.
A record number of Covid-19 patients are being treated in Irish hospitals for the second day in a row. There are 1,022 people on wards across the country, while 88 patients are in ICU receiving treatment.
Cllr. Coyle says Erris is renowned for its Meitheal spirit but now people need to spread apart and stresses that his number is always available if people need help.
