As temperatures dropped as low as -6 degrees in parts of Connacht and Ulster last night, road users this morning across the region are advised to take due caution.

Gardai say there are no reports of any collisions so far this morning, nonetheless they are advising drivers to give themselves additional time for their journeys and ensure that your windscreen is cleared of ice before setting off.

The main roads across the region appear to have been gritted overnight, but many minor roads remain hazardous this morning.

Met Éireann says that day time temperatures today will not rise above zero in parts of the midlands and west.
