The search for a man missing from north Mayo since November has been stepped up today.

The man, who's in his late 60's and from the Lacken area, has been missing since mid-November.

An extensive search operation got underway after his car was located at Downpatrick head.

Today, the Grainne Uaile Sub Aqua team are carrying out a sea search, from Downpatrick Head to Killala.

The search is being co-ordinated by Sergeant Paul Maher, who told Midwest News today that Garda divers will also assist in the coming days.

He's appealing to anyone with land along the coastline, or people out walking in the area who see anything that might help in their investigation, to contact Ballina Garda Station at 096 - 20560.
