Works on two highly anticipated new health facilities in Tuam will begin in March 2021.

The Fianna Fail Deputy has received an update on the timelines for the Aras Mhuire Community Nursing Unit and the Mental Health Centre and Disability Centre set for the town.
The tenders for the new 50-bed residential care unit at Aras Mhuire will be assessed by the design team and HSE Estates in the coming weeks.
It’s anticipated construction will commence in March, it's expected to be completed in quarter two of 2022, with the facility ready for occupation by the end of quarter three.
Forty-five care staff and an additional twelve non-care staff are to be deployed to the new CNU when commissioned.
In addition, staffing levels will be increased in line with the additional beds commissioned for the new facility.
Meanwhile, the development of a Mental Health Centre and Disability Centre at the Grove hospital site also continues.
The tender process is expected to conclude at the end of January, while works should then begin from April or May.
These works should take approximately 15 months to complete.
