St. Paul’s Church in Glenamoy in North Mayo which was built in 1936 has to be reroofed.

The church is closed at present because of danger posed by falling materials including sections of concrete off the bell tower.

To make the church accessible again work has to be done to prioritise safety.

The overall cost of the project will be in the region of between 80,000 & 90,000 and work is already underway. The Parish is looking for support with fundraising for the project.

This is a big challenge in an area of sparse population and at a time of limited options to raise funds due to the impact of Covid-19.

A fundraising drive is underway through Go Fund Me and Parish Priest Fr. Michael Nallen has been telling Midwest News that there has been some long standing issues with the roof of the church over the years.
