Preparations to celebrate the 300th anniversary of Ballina Town’s formal establishment have begun.
The north Mayo town was formally established in 1723 by Lord Tyrawley.
The Ballina 2023 steering group has been set up to get the initiative off the ground and to facilitate and empower the people of the area to get involved in putting together the yearlong programme of events.
The public are invited to submit ideas about what they would like to see happening in the town on this important milestone in its history.
Anne Marie Flynn, the manager of North Mayo Tourism told Midwest News that this is a chance for individuals and groups in Ballina to have their ideas heard.
