Hoteliers are calling on the Government to allow people to travel outside their county next month, and to permit indoor dining in hotels - including for non-residents.

The Irish Hotels Federation insists hotels can reopen in a safe manner, while providing a safe, controlled environment for people during the festive season - which would minimise the number of social gatherings in home settings and thereby reduce the risk of spreading Covid-19.

The IHF is also seeking at least 7days notice of the revised restrictions for December, so hotels can plan effectively.

Darren Madden of the Clew Bay Hotel in Westport is the Mayo representative of the Irish Hotels Federation and is calling on the Government to look on hotels as part of the solution instead of the problem.
