Enforcement of the Level 5 Restrictions by gardai across the region from this weekend, will only be a last resort, according to Mayo Garda Chief Superintendent Tony Healy. He says engagement with the community and encouraging compliance with the regulations will be to the fore.
From today gardai have increased patrols in parks and public spaces to boost compliance with the Covid-19 restrictions.
There are also additional checkpoints in place on the roads to ensure that the travel restrictions in place are adhered to.
Garda Chief Superintendent Healy has been telling Midwest News about the increased visibility of gardai across the county from today, to encourage continued compliance with the Level 5 Restrictions in place now for four weeks, with two further weeks to go.
