The HSE must make direct contact with the staff at Ballina District Hospital to explain why they are being moved to deal with a Covid-19 outbreak in a north Mayo nursing home.
That’s the call coming from Fine Gael Councillor John O’Hara.
Patients from the male ward of Ballina District Hospital were to be moved temporarily so that staff could be redeployed to the nursing home experiencing a Covid-19 outbreak.
Cllr O’Hara claims that agency staff has been sent to Ballina District Hospital to fill the places left by staff that have been redeployed to the nursing home.
The Bonniconlon-based Councillor argues that it makes more sense to send agency staff directly to the nursing home rather that transferring staff to different facilities.
Cllr O’Hara told Midwest News that he is calling on the HSE to explain the situation directly to the staff at Ballina District Hospital.
Midwest News has contacted the HSE for comment on the matter and we are awaiting a response.
