Headford based councillor Mary Hoade has been elected, unopposed, as the first female President in 120 years, of the Association of Irish Local Government (AILG).

AILG is a national representative organisation for the elected members of Ireland's thirty one County & City Councils.

It is a networking, policy development and training resource for the 949 elected county councillors.
