Ballina Councillors have totally rejected the lowest allocation ever proposed under GMA funding for their area.
The issue was discussed at today's monthly meeting of the authority, where Crossmolina-based FF Councillor Michael Loftus physically ripped up the proposal.
The Ballina Municipal District has been allocated a sum of 330,000 for 2021.
It is the smallest allocation of the four Municipal District areas in Mayo.
The GMA is the General Municipal Allocation and is funding that is provided annually for voluntary and community groups and is totally at the discretion of elected councillors.
