There's good news for Ballina today, as St Mary's Secondary school has got the go-ahead from the Minister for Education to appoint a contractor for its new school building.

The all-girls school will have a new campus constructed on a site adjacent to the existing school, and work is expected to begin within weeks.

Mayo Fianna Fail Deputy Dara Calleary says it's exciting news for the students, teachers and staff.
