A return to severe Covid-19 restrictions like we saw in March is not the answer to combat the Covid-19 crises.
That’s the view of Mayo Fine Gael TD Michael Ring, who says the three-month restrictions earlier this year only delayed the spread of the virus.
Mayo has the lowest incidence rate of Covid-19 in the country today and the Westport-based politician argues that bringing the county under new severe restrictions isn’t justified.
Deputy Ring believes that politicians should listen to the advice of health experts but ultimately decide on the best course of action for the country themselves.
He told Midwest News that he’s concerned for people’s physical and mental health, livelihoods and the wider economy if level 5 restrictions are approved by Government.
