Landowners in the Crossmolina area that will be impacted by the proposed flooding relief works in the area, are now being contacted by the OPW for their consent and that’s a welcome development according to local Fianna Fail councillor Michael Loftus.

The constant threat of the flooding of the river Deel in the town centre has for many years now impacted on businesses and residents in Crossmolina.

Extensive flooding has occurred on the main streets and premises of the town on numerous occasions, and while some flood relief works already completed have reduced the extent of damage caused as a result, the community now awaits major flood relief works on the river itself, redirecting the flow of the water.
