The prospect of only two thirds of last year’s flu vaccine supply this winter raises serious concerns for vulnerable groups.
That’s the view of Roscommon-Galway Independent TD Denis Naughten.
The Oireachtas member has lobbied for a large uptake in the vaccine to avoid confusion between the flu and coronavirus in Irish hospitals this winter.
He was dismayed that it is only now the HSE has admitted that there will be a shortfall in supply of the vaccine alongside a delay in its order.
Deputy Naughten told Midwest News that the amount of flu vaccine we will receive is well short of what was expected and ordered.
