The head of the HSE's warned there's currently no scope to increase capacity in the Covid 19 testing system.

 

Paul Reid has told ministers it may not be possible to carry out over 14 thousand tests a day - despite an expected increase in demand.

 

The Sunday Independent reports it could mean people need a number of Covid symptoms before being referred - or testing in meat plants might be scaled back.

 

Margaret Harris from the World Health Organisation says making changes when the testing system is under pressure is the right approach.
