A memorial cycle will take place this Saturday from Balla to remember a nurse from the area that died from bowel cancer.
The Mary Sheridan Tonra Memorial cycle is being carefully organised by her family and friends, adhering to Covid 19 regulations.
Mary had worked as a hospital and public health nurse prior to contracting cancer and was confident that she would recover, and intended to work as a night nurse to give back to the many cancer organisations that had assisted her throughout her illness.
Unfortunately she passed away, before she could do so.
In her memory, her family decided to organise the Memorial Cycle and the proceeds will be shared by the Irish Cancer Society, Mayo Roscommon Hospice and Rock Rose House.
Castlebar councillor Donna Sheridan is a niece of Mary’s and she has been telling Midwest News more about her Aunt and Saturday’s event
