One person with the virus died in the same period, bringing the death toll in the Republic to 1,763.
Of the most recently notified new cases, 68% are under 45 years of age, with 26 cases located in Kildare, 18 in Dublin, 11 in Clare, nine in Laois, seven in Limerick, four in Meath and the remainder spread across seven other counties – including one new case confirmed in county Sligo.
People are being urged to exercise extreme caution this bank holiday weekend, to try stop the spread of Covid-19.
The National Public Health Emergency Team says this evening's figures will be crucial in assessing if further action is needed.
It says it's "very concerned", and is on standby to meet later, should today's figures go in the wrong direction.
At least 18 of the newest cases are from a cluster at a dog food factory in Co Kildare, which has been closed for the past week.
