The Minister for Agriculture Barry Cowen has travelled to Co Leitrim today to view the damage caused by a landslide near Drumkeeran two weeks ago.
Thousands of tonnes of bog washed down a local mountain on 28th June, causing damage to commonage, farm land, roads and drains.
Local residents and farmers are hopeful that some form of hardship fund will be set aside for those impacted by the landslide.
After spending about 2 hours in the area, the Minister made no promises, but said he would consider such a fund.
Minister Cowen also met with engineers from Leitrim County Council and local public representatives.
