Progress is continuing on the Newport sewage scheme, which should be completed by 2024.
That's according to Westport-based Fianna Fail Councillor Brendan Mulroy.
Raw sewage is continuing to flow into the sea at Newport Quay, but plans are in place for a new waste water treatment plant.
While there were some concerns locally that the scheme might be delayed due to Covid-19 restrictions, Councillor Mulroy says the feasibility study is currently being finalised, and the scheme is progressing.
