The Galway City Ring Road will proceed under the coalition’s Programme for Government.
That’s according to An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, who says there is a specific commitment to the Galway Transport Strategy in the document.
The Fine Gael leader says €1bn budget per year has been retained for the maintenance and restoration of roads, to protect the Local Improvement Scheme and the Community Involvement Scheme and to advance all existing road projects.
He says that there was no agreement for any road infrastructure project to be cancelled nationwide.
Speaking to Sean Defoe, the Taoiseach says the only barrier to the completion of the N6 bypass is the planning process.
