The funeral arrangements have been announced this evening for Detective Garda Colm Horkan who was murdered in Castlerea on Wednesday night last.

His remains will lie in repose at the Family Funeral Home in Horkans Charlestown on Saturday afternoon.

Removal from the family home will take place on  Sunday morning to arrive at St. James’ Church, Charlestown for concelebrated Funeral Mass at 12 o’clock followed by burial in the adjoining Cemetery

The Funeral Mass will be broadcast live on and Midwest Radio.

The family are appealing to the public  to adhere to current HSE Guidelines and Restrictions at all times.

A guard of honour took place in Ballaghaderreen this evening as Detective Garda Colm Horkan's remains were brought through the town.

He worked in the area for many years and hundreds of people lined the streets.

A man remains in Garda custody in connection with the 49-year-old's murder in Castlerea on Wednesday night.
