A Sligo-Leitrim TD is again calling on the Government and NPHET to consider giving stronger advice on the wearing of face masks, as the country begins to learn to live alongside the coronavirus.
Independent TD Marian Harkin is making the call as the World Health Organisation changes its advice on masks.
The WHO now says they should be worn in public places where social distancing isn't possible and in places like shops and on public transport.
They are also advising over 60's and those with underlying medical conditions to specifically wear medical masks where social distancing cannot be maintained.
Deputy Harkin wants a face mask to be issued to every Irish citizen in an effort to encourage their use in public settings.
