McDonalds in Castlebar has reopened today, and is offering a Drive Thru service for customers.

The fast food giant is reopening restaurants in a phased basis across the country, and the Castlebar and Sligo outlets are among the 23 reopening today.

As large numbers of customers are expected at the Castlebar drive-thru, motorists are advised that there will be no right turn into McDonalds as you approach from the roundabout at Aldi and Next.

Instead, customers are asked to drive down to the Westport Road roundabout, and come back up by Lough Lannagh, taking a left-turn into McDonalds.

The manager of McDonalds in Castlebar Martin Cramp says his 85 staff are looking forward to getting back to work today.

The restaurant is operating with reduced hours, between 11am and 10pm, and new measures are in place to help keep staff and customers safe.
