A Mayo TD says  he's received an "uncommittal response" from Bank of Ireland, following queries he made in relation to the future of the bank's branch in Ballyhaunis.

This is one of over 100 Bank of Ireland branches that were temporarily closed due to Covid-19 restrictions, but there are fears locally that the Ballyhaunis branch may not reopen in the future.

Local businesses and individuals have mounted a campaign to ensure the bank reopens, as it's the only bank left in Ballyhaunis, after both AIB and Ulster Bank closed their branches in the town in recent years.

Mayo Fianna Fail TD Dara Calleary has written to the Head of Retail Banking at Bank of Ireland requesting confirmation of their plans for the Ballyhaunis branch, but told Midwest News  that he's disappointed with the non-committal response he received....
