The 5-year old boy who died tragically on Lough Mask has been named locally as Ben Duffy from Tourmakeady.
It's understood he had been in a dinghy which capsized after drifting from the shoreline on Monday evening.
Ben, the youngest of five children of Alan and Tracey Duffy from Tourmakeady, had been playing with family members in a shallow area of the lake when it's believed a sudden gust of wind caused the dinghy to drift rapidly out of reach, and he fell out of the inflatable.
A search operation got underway when the alarm was raised at about 6.30 on Monday evening.
Ben's body was recovered from the lake at about 8.30 yesterday morning and removed to Mayo University Hospital for post-mortem examination.
His funeral arrangements are not yet available.
