Gardaí in Westport are conducting an investigation into a fire which caused damage to a section of a family home at Gortnaclasser, Fahy yesterday afternoon.
Gardaí are currently working today to determine how the blaze broke out at the residence.
Midwest News understands that the house was vacant when the blaze broke out shortly before 4pm.
Westport Fire Brigade and Gardaí were alerted to the incident at around 4.15pm and the fire was brought under control.
Nobody was injured in the incident and the fire was limited to one section of the family home.
