€20,000 has been allocated to Mayo County Council to construct a reinforced concrete wall at Kilmurry National School close to Crossmolina in order to protect the school from potential flooding.
The announcement was made this morning by the Minister for Rural and Community Development Michael Ring.
Minister Ring told Midwest News that the wall will replace the existing wall and will protect the school in the event of raised water levels on the river Deel. A pump sump will also be installed as part of the works.
He is urging Mayo County Council to ensure that this work is carried out without delay.
