Fianna Fáil is committed to abolishing car park charges in hospitals if elected to government, according to Mayo Fianna Fail deputy Lisa Chambers.
She claims that costs can add up quickly when someone is undergoing outpatient
treatment or therapy over a number of weeks or months at Mayo General
Hospital or Galway University Hospital.
The deputy believes it’s an unnecessary expense for people who may already be under pressure if their illness has forced them to be out of work for any given period
A HSE review into the issue, with a view to establishing clear
national guidelines, was commissioned back in 2018 but has not yet issued any recommendations
