A number of key agency staff posts are set to be cut in HSE services across Mayo, Roscommon and Galway.
Speaking on the first of our Election Lunchtime debates here on Midwest Radio, Mayo Fianna Fail deputy Dara Calleary told Midwest News today that he has seen a letter from the Head of Primary Care Services in the HSE outlining the cutting of two Senior Physiotherapists, two Senior Occupational Therapists and one Clerical Admin post in Mayo. As well as cuts in county Galway to Occupational Therapy and Clerical administrators
The agency staff were all given notice commencing on Monday 20th January 2020 in Mayo and Galway. A further 60 staff across the Galway, Mayo & Roscommon will not be replaced when they leave in 2020. The letter also states that there will be no replacement for maternity leave, sick leave in 2020, which is averaging around 30 at any one time.
Deputy Calleary said this government is failing patients already on long waiting lists in urgent need of vital services.
