Mayo County Council says the R313 Belmullet-Blacksod road has not yet reopened, following damage caused by Storm Brendan.
The road was due to reopen to single lane traffic at 8am this morning, however further damage was caused to a section of the road last night.
The damage is currently being assessed, but it's hoped to open one lane of the road in the next hour or so.
Local diversions remain in place.
Meanwhile, two and a half thousand homes and businesses across the country are without electricity this morning.
Strong winds and heavy rain associated with Storm Brendan yesterday resulted in outages, particularly in the north-west and south-east of the country.
Areas of Mayo, Sligo and Galway are without power this morning and the ESB says it hopes power will be restored to all premises by close of business today.
