The Galway Christmas Market came to a close yesterday, having attracted an estimated 600,000 visitors this year.
The Eyre Square Market, which opened on 15th November, featured over 50 seasonal market stalls, the 32m observation wheel, the traditional Carousel and Santa's Express Train.
60% of the traders taking part in the market are local Galway-based businesses, while 10 local charities also showcased their work.
Research has shown that the Galway Christmas Market is estimated to be worth more than €20 million to the city, with an average of €3 being spent in local hotels, shops, restaurants and cars for every €1 spent in the market.
Organisers say 70% of those attending this year's market were from outside Galway City, with 57% of these staying overnight.
