Gardai are again advising the public to be wary of suspicious phone calls.
A woman in the Ballinrobe area was contacted by phone this morning by an individual claiming to be from the Irish Revenue and Customs office. The woman was asked for her bank details.
She did not provide the information and reported it to gardai in Ballinrobe. The phone number prefix was 051. Gardai say they immediately reported the incident to Revenue who confirmed it was not from them, and they added that on their Revenue Website there is a clear warning to the public to be wary of potential scams.
