A post-mortem examination is being carried out on the body of a man who was found dead in his car in Charlestown in the early hours of this morning.

Gardai have confirmed that a 69-year old man, from the Ballymote area of Co Sligo, was found dead in his car in Charlestown at about 2am this morning.

His body was removed to Mayo University Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Gardai say no foul play is suspected, and they believe the man had a pre-existing medical condition.
