With a busy festive season in trade now in full swing, Local Business Watch in Castlebar is organising a meeting next week in an attempt to combat fraud.
There have been a number of reported incidents of fraud reported to the gardai over recent weeks in the area.
Garda Michael Toland of the Community Policing Unit at Castlebar Garda station says people need to be vigilant when receiving suspicious calls.
The advice is to never give out any personal details to anyone on the phone, particularly if you do not know or recognize the caller.
The meeting to combat fraud will take place on Tuesday next, upstairs in the Bridge Street Public House from 5pm to 6.30pm.
