Sligo University Hospital has launched a new app to help children prepare for surgery, and reduce their anxiety before having to stay in hospital.
The "Little Journey" virtual reality app provides 360-degree views of all the areas children will visit in the hospital, as well useful information about anaesthetics.
Hospital management say it's designed to prepare children and their parents for surgery, and ease their anxiety.
The checklists included will also help families to prepare, in advance of a hospital stay.
Sligo is the first hospital in Ireland to introduce such an app for children, which is already in use in a number of other countries.
The Little Journey app is free to download.
