There are hopes a Roscommon respite centre for people with disabilities may not close permanently.

The Irish Wheelchair Association shut the Cuisle centre yesterday, with the loss of up to 48 jobs.

However, local TDs are involved in talks with a state agency, which may provide funding to reopen it under a new provider.

Local Fianna Fail deputy Eugene Murphy says there's a good chance the negotiations will succeed.
