Ballina native Norah Patten was among the winners last night at the An Post Irish Book Awards 2019.

Norah won the Specsavers Children's Book of the Year award for her book "Shooting for the Stars - My Journey to Becoming Ireland's First Astronaut".

The awards were held last night at Dublin's Convention Centre, to honour new and established writers across 16 categories.

Acclaimed author and journalist Colm Toibín was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Highlights of the Irish Book Awards will be broadcast on RTE One television at 11.15pm on Saturday night.
