A Roscommon TD says he's not too hopeful for the future of the Cuisle Centre in Donamon, after raising the issue on two occasions yesterday with the Minister for Disabilities Finian McGrath.

Minister McGrath met yesterday afternoon with Oireachtas members from Roscommon to discuss the decision by the Irish Wheelchair Association to close the Cuisle holiday respite centre at the end of this month - with the loss of over 40 jobs.

Local TDs had asked that the Minister recommend that the Irish Wheelchair Association would reverse the decision, or at least suspend the closure of the centre for a year to allow staff seek other employment.

Roscommon-Galway Fianna Fail TD Eugene Murphy said the Minister appeared to be shocked and concerned at the issues raised, but when he spoke on the matter in the Dáil last night, Minister McGrath appeared to offer little hope for the future of the Cuisle centre.....
