A new photography and film exhibition will be officially opened tomorrow at the Galway City Museum , which tells the story of a number of vulnerable people from the Mayo and Galway areas who have overcome challenges to lead a life of their own choosing in the community.

The exhibition, called "Facing Change" comprises ten portraits and ten short films of people with disabilities, mental health difficulties and dementia.

It's the brainchild of Genio - a non-profit organisation which works to bring about positive change in the lives of disadvantaged and vulnerable people.

Former President of NUI Galway, and Genio board member Iggy Ó'Muircheartaigh says the stories represented in the exhibition show the change that can happen in people's lives when they have access to community-based supports, personalised to their needs.
