The Irish Wheelchair Association's housing development "An Fraoch" in Belmullet has been recognised at the Irish Council for Social Housing Awards, held recently in Waterford.

The Independent Living houses have been built adjacent to the Irish Wheelchair Association community centre in Belmullet, and are designed to support people with physical disabilities to live independently, supported by assistive technology, with round the clock supports.

Tenants living independently also have full access to local services.

Rosaleen Lally, Co-ordinator of the Irish Wheelchair Association in Belmullet, says An Fraoch is a flagship project, and they're thrilled that their work has been recognised at the Irish Council for Social Housing Awards.
