The Minister with Responsibility for the Office of Public Works, Kevin Boxer Moran is in due in Crossmolina this noon time (Friday) to meet with representatives from the local Flood Group
The community has become frustrated with the delays that have persisted in the delivery of permanent flood defences for the area.
A commitment was given by the OPW last October that contractors would be appointed by this summer 2019 and an Environmental Impact Assessment report was completed last May.
There was welcome news for Crossmolina in the 2020 budget announced earlier this week, in that the funding for the permanent flood defences has been included in the government’s capital programme for next year.
Local Fine Gael Senator Michelle Mulherin says the development is very welcome and insists the people of Crossmolina need to see action on this issue quickly.
