The National Emergency Co-Ordination Group will meet again this morning in Dublin to discuss nationwide preparations for the expected arrival of Storm Lorenzo tomorrow evening.
The Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government Eoghan Murphy said he is very concerned about the potential impact of the storm in coastal areas and the damage that could be caused by falling trees.
Met Éireann has said it will issue weather warnings about Lorenzo later this morning.
Crisis management teams across the country were put on standby last night, following a meeting of The National Emergency Co-Ordination Group.
High seas, strong winds and heavy rain are expected when the hurricane makes landfall as a powerful storm tomorrow.
Counties along the West and Southern coasts are expected to be the worst affected.
