Primary and post primary students are being encouraged to come up with One Good Idea about energy saving and climate action and then to make a short film about it.

Galway East TD and Minister of State for Climate Action and the Environment Seán Canney is urging students to take part in the One Good Idea competition that is being run by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland.

This year SEAI is asking students to make a one-minute film encapsulating their idea and to launch a creative awareness campaign about it in their community.

Minister Canney said: "The film and campaign should show people how having One Good Idea can make a difference in terms of savings, energy efficiency and climate action.

Students need to register and submit a proposal by Friday October 18.

The national final will be held in Dublin in April.

Teams can be made up of between two and six students and teachers can register teams online.
