Ireland has published its first ever Social Enterprise Policy.

It will help businesses whose main objective is to achieve an impact on their societies.

26 policy measures or actions are to be delivered over the next four years.

The Minister for Rural and Community Development Michael Ring launched the plan today

He says it’s the first time in the history of the state that the government has published policy on Social Enterprise.

Social Enterprises are businesses that employ people who have been long term unemployed and they plough the profits from the business back into further social development.b
