More than 480 people in county Mayo alone are likely to be diagnosed this year with a new case of cancer. That’s according to the latest statistics in cancer research.
Almost 2,000 people in the county availed of the services provided by Mayo Cancer Support at Rock Rose House in Castlebar last year.
The free of charge service, set up twenty years ago, was established to provide support and advise to cancer patients and their families.
The Chairman of Mayo Cancer Support Rock Rose House Seamus Moran and Rock Rose House General Manager Patricia Greally addressed Monday’s monthly meeting of Mayo County Council to give councillors more details on the services provided and the need to secure council funding for the facilities.
Patricia and Seamus told Midwest News today why they sought the opportunity to address councillors.
