A Foxford man has been selected to be one of the Rose Escorts at the 2019 Rose of Tralee International Festival in August.
25-year old Pearce Maloney, a primary school teacher from Foxford, took part in the annual Boot Camp earlier this month in Kerry, after which 32 men were shortlisted to accompany the Roses at this year's festival.
This is the 60th year of the Rose of Tralee Festival which runs from 23rd to 27th August.
Pearce Maloney, who's representing Mayo among the Rose escorts, is teaching in Dublin and also studying for a Masters in History at Trinity College.
He says his cousin Martin Davey - a former Rose escort - encouraged him to apply.
The escorts went through an interview process in April, and had to pass several endurance tests and team-building exercises during the Boot Camp before making it to the Rose Escort shortlist.
