The threat hanging over the continuation of Rehab Care services has been lifted, after an extra €2 million funding has been secured.

The agreement was reached yesterday evening during negotiations between the Rehab Group, the HSE, Health Minister Simon Harris and the Minister for Disability Finian McGrath.

The group had threatened to withdraw Rehab Care services to some 3,000 children and adults with disabilities at 117 locations around the country, if additional financial support was not provided - including 300 services users in Co Mayo.

Earlier yesterday, a number of service users, their families and Rehab Care staff briefed TDS and Senators in Leinster House, as part of their campaign to save the services.

Mayo FG Senator Michelle Mulherin has welcomed the resolution of this issue....
